ALLIANZ COMMERCIAL TAKES ADVANTAGE OF BESPOKE SOLUTION FROM LAN2LAN TO CREATE NEW EFFICIENCIES ACROSS RISK ASSESSMENT BUSINESS
Ability to download Lotus data and applications directly onto BlackBerry smartphones increases productivity by 10% over 12 months, a total saving of 1,500 man-hours per year
Woking, United Kingdom – 22nd June, 2010 – Allianz Commercial, a division of Allianz Insurance plc as one of the UK’s top five commercial insurers, has successfully trialled a bespoke solution from Surrey-based systems integrator LAN2LAN to create new efficiencies across the company’s risk assessment business. The new technology from LAN2LAN will enable Allianz Commercial’s Risk Control Team to replicate data from the organisation’s in-house IBM® Lotus® application directly onto BlackBerry® smartphones eliminating the need to duplicate the same information manually onto company laptops and then into the central corporate system. As a result, the organisation expects to achieve significant benefits, an average of 10% increase in productivity in the 12 months following deployment.
Andrew Miller, Allianz Commercial’s Risk Control Survey Team Manager, commented: “We estimate a saving of around 15 minutes per visit. Aggregated over roughly 6,000 visits a year, it amounts to an extra 1,500 of productive time. It will allow us to complete more visits and mean less time working out of hours. We will also be simplifying a process that is tedious for people who would much rather be out and about, talking to clients and winning new deals.”
The business driver behind the new solution was the growth in size and complexity of the company’s on-site risk assessment business. The Allianz Commercial team of surveyors covers the UK, giving help and advice to small and medium-sized businesses. They conduct surveys of the premises and talk to the company owners about the risks to their businesses, anything from fire and theft through to health and safety issues, legal and regulatory considerations.
Although time-consuming, this detailed analysis is crucial to helping the underwriters to set a competitive premium and provide the right cover for the client.
LAN2LAN’s specialist IBM Lotus and BlackBerry expertise has allowed the development of a BlackBerry-based version of Allianz Commercial’s Lotus application and maximised the return on the company’s original Lotus investment. Most importantly, it has transformed a traditionally time-consuming and labour-intensive process into a competitive differentiator for Allianz Commercial. Reports following a client visit can now be prepared within a few minutes of the survey, or even as the survey is conducted.
“By speeding up our reporting, the BlackBerry-based application is helping to improve the service we provide. It’s good for our customers and gives us a strong additional advantage in a notoriously competitive market,” concluded Miller.
